Just Some Influences

Description

I just thought I'd share some (not all) of the artists who have influenced my work...I think I'mma end up making a sequel to this XD

1. Scott Ferguson is possibly my number one idol. I would totally become his apprentice, asap. He is the creator of three awesome comics, Nerf This [link] Scout Crossing [link] and Motokool [link] His comics are hilarious, his art is fantastic, and it's always changing, and getting better.

2. Blip [link] is a comic by...well I don't really know her name but she goes by Sage. This comic is an inspiration for Death Comes Knocking (hence the name of the main character, Sage...she was kind of named for the author of Blip)

3. Breaking Up was the first graphic novel I read. Well, the first one I read, understood, and enjoyed. It was in eighth grade, and that was the first time I realized I could do art for a living. Christine Norrie's style was great, and even to this day I pick up my old book and flip through the pages for references, poses, facial expessions, etc.

4. Der-shing Helmer, I love your work!! The expressions, the body language...it's candy to my eyes!!! But don't take my word for it- just check out the Meek [link] you'll see what I'm talking about. And hey look, a deviantart page! :iconalexds1:

5. Really, who hasn't been inspired/influenced by Glen Keane? His work is phenomenal. His work fueled my childhood, I still look at Ariel and think "Why can't I draw like THAT?" and confession: when I saw the movie Tangled, while I was paying attention to the story, I was mostly engrossed by the art...the visuals were stunning! The characters were perfect! Gosh I admire this guy :3

6. This piece is from the lovely Meredith Gran's comic Octopus Pie [link] It was the first webcomic I ever stumbled upon and I still read it on a regular basis. I love that she's always able to express so much through such simplicity. And while her art style may not show up in my own, her way of storytelling, of making her characters very real, is something I try to strive for in my own comics.

7. And finally we wind into the DeviantArt environment, with the amazingly awesome McKenna, more widely known as :iconpocket-picasso: Although she is only 16 she's already made a huge impact on me and on fellow DA'ers, with her lively comics, unique style and exceptional characters. I admit I am a total PP fangirl, but really can you blame me? I don't think there's anyone out there who doesn't love Adam and Gemma. Her art is always evolving and her stories are always intriguing (plus she's a big fan of Disney and it shows, and I love that since I'm a Disney gal myself XD)

WOW of you read all of that you deserve some sort of medal. Or a cookie. I'll bake all of you cookies!!! :iconnomnomnomplz:
